You can use Rhea for courses, research groups, student organizations, student projects, individual learning activities, virtual poster sessions, getting in touch with other Purdue community members, etc. If  what you want to post on Rhea can be related to the curriculum material and/or help other people learn, then it is most likely appropriate (as long as it is not copyrighted of course, see [[Rhea:Copyrights|our Copyrights Rules]] for more details). Rhea is 'our' learning tool: as a collectivity, 'we' decide how to use it to serve 'our' educational needs. If you have ideas/opinions, please consider [[How_to_join_the_Rhea_development_team|joining the Rhea team]].

How to use Rhea

The answer to the question "how can I use Rhea" depends on whether you are currently a member of the Purdue community (student, instructor, faculty, etc.) or not. If you have a Purdue Career account, then you are considered a member of the Purdue community, which gives you the right to directly post content on Rhea. If you do not have a Purdue Career account, then you cannot directly post content on Rhea. However, you can freely browse all of Rhea's material, and they are indirect ways in which you can contribute/benefit from Rhea. See below.

For Members of the Purdue Community (i.e., those with a Purdue Career Account)

Using Rhea is free!

That's right, it's entirely free! In fact, you might even be able to make money with Rhea, as one of our philosophy is to give back to the students whenever we can. (See for example our current calls for software bounties and the Summer 2010 Essay Contest).

Anybody with a Purdue Career Account can contribute content to Rhea.

Rhea aims to serve the needs of the Purdue community as a whole. So if you have a Purdue career account, Rhea is for you too! Feel free to use it for anything that can help contribute to other people's learning. However, before you do so, please read the following disclaimer.

What kind of content is appropriate for Rhea?

You can use Rhea for courses, research groups, student organizations, student projects, individual learning activities, virtual poster sessions, getting in touch with other Purdue community members, etc. If what you want to post on Rhea can be related to the curriculum material and/or help other people learn, then it is most likely appropriate (as long as it is not copyrighted of course, see our Copyrights Rules for more details). Rhea is 'our' learning tool: as a collectivity, 'we' decide how to use it to serve 'our' educational needs. If you have ideas/opinions, please consider joining the Rhea team.

I am interested in using Rhea and want to know more. Where should I begin?

You should begin by reading the following disclaimer. If you are not familiar with wikis, then you may want to read the Help page. Some features that are particular to Rhea are listed here. If you simply want to browse the content of Rhea, then a good place to start is the Table of Content. There you will find the list of current "courses wikis" as well as past courses wikis all the way back to 2007. One interesting example of an engineering course wiki is this one. Here is one from mathematics. Note that course wikis are different than course pages, which are independent of the instructor/semester. Here is an example of a course page. If you have questions on how to use Rhea you may ask them on this page.

I am instructor and would like to have a course page on Rhea. How should I proceed?

Creating a new course page is very simple. After loggin in with your career account, just click on the "Create a new course page" link in the left-side tab (in the "shortcuts" section) and fill in the requested info. That's it! (If you are unsure how to do it, just ask your students. They will know!) If you are looking for ideas on how to use Rhea in your class, read this page.

For People Outside Purdue (i.e., without a Purdue Career Account)

Anybody can view Rhea's content using a web browser. The URL is www.projectrhea.org. There are also some ways for you to get more actively involved, such as
