There was no lecture this past Monday because of MLK day.

In Lecture 7, we discussed some properties of independent events and talked about Bernoulli trials. A bonus point opportunity was announced. Deadline is this coming Sunday at 11:59pm.


Action items for students (to be completed before next lecture)

  • Read sections 2.6.1 and 2.6.2 in the textbook.
  • Solve the following problems (these will be part of the second homework, to be handed in later):
Problems 30, 31, 32, 33 from Chapter 1 of "Introduction to Probability," by Dimitri P. Bertsekas and John N. Tsitsiklis. Athena Scientific, Belmont, Massachusetts, 2008, ISBN 978-1-886529-23-6.
