Professional Writing @ Purdue

Working in conjunction with the Rhetoric and Composition graduate program, Professional Writing has maintained a strong reputation within the field. Seeing as how Purdue is very much driven by the Science and Business programs, Professional Writing (PW for short) works to train students in workplace writing within those fields through classes such as Business Writing (ENGL 420), Technical Writing (ENGL 421), Multimedia Writing (ENGL 419), as well as other classes.

With the development of more user friendly multimedia and publishing tools, workplace writing has shifted from a predominantly print-based model to a more digital/cloud model. Writing using images, audio, and text is an essential part of the professionalization process. The PW program works alongside faculty and businesses to create classroom projects that students can apply in the workplace.

With over 25 years of experience in the field, PW continues to continues to make inroads in both the academy and the private sector, which helps students to connect with and draw on experienced alumni. For more information, visit pw.rhetorike.org
