In order to be able to easily identify the pages that belong to a given course, we are using categories. When creating a new course, please invent a new category for the course. It does not have to be in any specific form, but it must be unique. We suggest using the form "XYZ123Spring2008jsmith".
+
We use categories to group the pages according to course. Thus when creating a new course, choose a unique name for the course's category (such as XYZ123SmithFall2009), and add a category link on every page that belongs to that course. For the example, it would look like <nowiki>[[Category:XYZ123SmithFall2009]]</nowiki>.
To identify a page you create as part of this course (including the main course page), please add
+

+
<nowiki>[[Category:XYZ123Spring2008jsmith]]</nowiki>
+

+
at the top of the page.
+
To facilitate searching, we suggest you make "XYZ123FallSpring2008jsmith" be a subcategory of the categories  "XYZ", "XYZ123" "Fall", "2008", "jsmith". This can be done by editing the page corresponding to Category "XYZ123Spring2008jsmith". All you have to do is add <pre> [[Category:Fall]], [[Category:2008]], etc.</pre> on the page.

On the <nowiki>Category:XYZ123SmithFall2009</nowiki> page, you can add links to more general categories that relate to this course, like <nowiki>[[Category:XYZ123]]] and [[Category:Smith]]].

Revision as of 18:29, 8 February 2009

You can create a new course on Rhea simply by creating a new page for the course. Please feel free to then add your course page to the course list. Note that anybody with a career account can do this. By courtesy, we suggest that students notify their instructor before creating a Rhea page for a class.

Please choose a descriptive title, such as "XYZ 123 Fall 2009 Professor Smith". You can follow this simple new course template, or this even simpler one. If you have created another template, please feel free to link it here.

We use categories to group the pages according to course. Thus when creating a new course, choose a unique name for the course's category (such as XYZ123SmithFall2009), and add a category link on every page that belongs to that course. On the Category:XYZ123SmithFall2009 page, you can add links to more general categories that relate to this course, like [[Category:XYZ123]]] and [[Category:Smith]]]. For special needs or requests, please contact the student development team (kiwi@ecn.purdue dot you know what).
