Discussion for HW8, ECE301 Spring 2011, Prof. Boutin

For number 3, is the point distribution supposed to be 10 points each for parts a b and c? And how should it be distributed for question 5?

Oops, I forgot there was part c) in Question 3. Please give 15 points for part c). I made the correction on the homework page. I am not sure what is unclear about Question 5: can you be more precise? -pm

It says for #5 total is 25 pts and for a) it's 25 points and b) 20 points. Change total to 45 then?

yes, the total is 45. -pm

I add a term "total points" to the HW8 page. Is that fine? And I just upload my peer review for HW8, and submitted. But when I hit the "Update this peer review" button of HW7, HW5 expanded and HW7 will never expand. Is there a way to check I successfully submitted the review for HW8?

The pdf file I received only has one page in it. I think whoever this belongs to accidentally only uploaded one page of his/her homework. What should I do?

There is not much you can do beside grading that page only. -pm

For problem 4, using $ \mathcal{H}(\omega)=\frac{\mathcal{Y}(\omega)}{\mathcal{X}(\omega)} $, the answer is $ \mathcal{H}(\omega)=\omega_0 $. If the student did this and correctly computed the unit impulse response based on that result should I award (full) points?

No, this approach is not correct. This is because the output of the system is only specified for positive values of $ \omega $. The absolute value absolutely belongs to the answer. -pm
