Today we studied another special case of normally distributed feature vectors, namely when the features are independent and all have the same standard deviation $ \sigma $ , for every class. In the two category case, we showed that the decision hypersurface is a then a hyperplane. We also showed that the normal to the hyperplane is in the direction of the vector joining the two class means. In the case where there are more than two categories, we saw that the decision hypersurface consists of pieces of hyperplanes joined together.
