The purpose of this degree is to prepare me for work in biotechnology applications towards engineered agricultural and pharmaceutical products, with a specific interest in synthesized proteins. Ideally, my job description would place me in research and design of a standard for engineering biological macromolecules such that proteins, hormones, and receptor-modifying chemicals could be constructed much in the same mindset of a mechanical engineer designing gears, pulleys, and engines. I do not intend to be the top of my field; I intend to invent it.
