ECE301 HW#1
Yimin Xiao
1. Playing Music
Note that the playing process have two key elements, the rhythm and the melody.
So there will be two in put vectors RHYTHM and MELODY
each element in RHYTHM consists the elements of length of each beat.
E = 0.5; Q = 1 ; DQ = 1.5; H = 2
each element in MELODY consists the elements of the pitch of each note.(Relate to A = 440Hz)
G = -2; bA = -1; A = 0; bB = 1; C = 2; bD = 3; D = 4; bE = 5; E = 6; F = 7; bG = 8; G = 9;G = 10; bA = 11; A = 12;
Using the construction that the
i.script named 'smoke_on_the_water.m' that create the MELODY and RHYTHM vectors and call a function to create the signals in normal mode, faster mode(by changing the tempo). Then save three wav files(attached in zip file), first one is the normal one first signal(sample rate 20000), second one is faster but same tone signal, sample rate 20000. Third one is y = x(2t), by simply changing the sample rate to 40000 will work.
ii. function named 'playsong.m' that take the melody and rhythm and tempo input and return a sound signal with default sample rate 20000 (same as example in class delta = 5e-5).

2. Hidden Backward Message
The forward message is "Number 9".
The backward message sounds like "Le Me on The meant".
One should regard the message has no meaning. It's just a random combination of syllables. People make guesses, and when the first impression is made, it stays in ones mind and really links to what they heard to what they know, therefore one might regard this message contains a meaning mistakenly.
