Dave Dayton, Retired CEO, Itronix Corporation

Guest Speaker for ECE 400, Spring 2012


Short Biography

Dave spent more than 35 years in a variety of Chief Executive and General Management roles at several high technology companies. This included 21 years at Hewlett Packard, the last ten years in division General Management positions. After HP, Dave spent ten years in CEO positions in smaller, venture-backed high tech firms, spending time in Providence, RI, Toronto, Canada, and Spokane, Washington. While at Hewlett-Packard, Dave was one of the company’s major business line managers, growing the Logic Systems Division’s total business from $10 million to over $100 million in revenue. He also developed the strategy for HP in new software applications such as ECAD and CASE. After leaving HP in 1990, Dave was the CEO of three other venture capital-backed high tech companies, including Cadre Technologies, Inc., a $45 million application development software firm employing over 300 employees worldwide, Cantoc Business Systems, Inc., a supply chain, application software and services firm specializing in order and warehouse management, located in Toronto. And lastly, Itronix Corporation, a leading company in specialty ruggedized, wireless, personal computers for the field service industry, located in Spokane, Washington. In addition to a BSEE from Purdue, Dave has an MBA from the University of Colorado. Additionally, Dave has served as Adjunct Marketing Professor at the University of Colorado and served as a Board Member for several public companies.
