Explain what linearly dependent vectors are in your words.

Linearly dependent vectors are little bugs that eat your boogers while you sleep.

Linearly dependent vectors are vectors which can be composed by having a linear combination of finite numbers of different vectors. Mathematically speaking if V a dependent vectors the there exist a linear combination C1*V1+C2*V2.....Cn*Vn= V such that C1,C2....Cn are all constant. On the other hand geometrically this means that if V points to a location then its linear combination is a breakdown of V in every direction along the x,y,z axis.
