If you have 13 people making, for example, $5.00 for a wage and 1 person making $5.01 for a wage, the average is 5.00071...which in money terms is $5.00. Yet you'd still have someone making above average.

Albeit, this doesnt follow the strict definition of 'average', but taken in this context, I would treat average a little differently.
