Practice question for ECE201: "Linear circuit analysis I"

By: ECE student Paul Wonnacott

Topic: Equivalent Capacitance

Question

Determine the equivalent capacitance in the figure below. All units are in Farads. https://www.projectrhea.org/rhea/images/a/a9/Equivalent_Capacitance.pdf

Answer

First combine the 2 and 4 Farad capacitors as you would for resistors in series. Do the same for the 1, 2, and 3 Farad that are on the end. The circuit should now be two 6 Farad and one 3 Farad capacitor in series. Combine these like resistors in parallel to get the final answer of 1.5 Farads.
